April Recapitulation.

It has been a busy month over here at life, scrapbook, repeat. I have shared 12 posts this month; scrapbook layouts, Project Life pages, a Crafty Organization Thursdays post, and my first Scrapbooking Spaces post. I appreciate you being here and sharing all of this with me.

For those of you that have read this blog for awhile, you know that I love a bullet point list, and so of course, I am back with another one hi-lighting all of the April happenings.

April happenings at life, scrapbook, repeat
  • April began with a Project Life post covering weeks 10 and 11.
  • Then we changed gears and I showed you a layout using a split-complimentary color scheme.
  • Next, we switched gears and I shared a much more girly layout with you.
  • Back to Project Life again and sharing weeks 12 and 13.
  • I then shared with you 3 layouts I made using the Paper Bakery March Scrapbook Kit.
  • Scrapbooking Spaces made it's debut with THIS terrific space.
  • With warm weather on the brain, I next shared 3 pool-themed layouts.
  • Back to Project Life again with week 14 and week 15.
  • Another way to scrapbook an egg hunt was shown with THIS layout.
  • Week 16 of Project Life was shown next, and I used a different sized page protector.
  • Last (but not least) I shared another April, currently post with you.
Another breakdown of life, scrapbook, repeat for April (because why not?)
  • 13 new blog posts
  • 9 layouts featured on the blog
  • 5 Project Life spreads completed
  • 1 Scrapbook Space featured
  • 1 Currently post
Some other Hi-lights this month I want to mention
  • We survived Spring Break and the weather was fantastic for the most part.
  • I have now watched 6/8 of the Oscar movies I have been waiting to see. All I have left now is Blue Jasmine and Her. My favorites so far are Gravity, 12 Years a Slave, and Dallas Buyers Club. I highly recommend all three, but for vastly different reasons.
  • The curtains in the house are 90% complete and will be finished tomorrow with any luck.
  • Eric is only working at one job site lately and has largely been fortunate enough to have Friday's off. He works very long days Monday-Thursday and I am thankful that he has more down time lately with his job being so physically demanding.
  • With the extra day off, of course, Eric and I began a couple more home projects; new grass has been seeded in the front yard, the garage is getting organized more, and we are repairing (and I am refinishing) an antique dresser for our entry way.  We really enjoy working on home projects together.
  • Songs from the movie Frozen are constantly on repeat and Isabelle has re-watched the movie at least five times.
  • Big Bang Theory continues to be a favorite of Eric, Elliot's, and mine. We are loving this show and laughing non-stop through every episode.
  • Elliot made the honor roll for the 3rd time this year. We are so very proud of him.
  • Isabelle started softball and has begun the season with a bang. She has become quite the little player and gets on base and fields the ball really well. We love watching her play.
  • I had one scrapbook get together this month and am anxiously awaiting National Scrapbook Day on May 5th.
  • We have survived the tornado warnings as of late and our little town seems to have been spared. We are thankful to be healthy and safe and thinking of other's in our nation that have not been so fortunate.
  • We are anxiously counting down until summer vacation and traveling to see family in Washington State.
  • I am furiously working on getting some projects finished and various new endeavors set-up for fall. Lots is in the works around here....that is all I can say for now. ;-)
  • We are healthy and happy and loving spring around our little town. We are thankful and so blessed beyond measure, and so appreciative of everything.

Layout Share: Egg Hunt

Happy Monday. I am checking in a little later today. Spring is here and I don't know about you, but life seems to get crazy busy this time of year. Softball, spring planting, projects, and family obligations are keeping us super busy, but I am still loving crafting in every bit of free time I can find.

I have a layout to share with you today using items largely from the Studio Calico Bluegrass Farms Scrapbook Kit. I love the primary color, but spring-like feel to this kit. It is one of my favorites that's for sure. I am really loving 8.5 x 11 layouts lately, sewing with my machine, and combining lots of different small scale patterned papers, and that is exactly what I did with this layout.

I will be back tomorrow sharing Project Life week 16 and I hope to see you then.

Until next time,

Happy Scrappin'

Project Life 2014: Week 15

Happy Tuesday! It's that time of the week again where I share my Project Life pages and hopefully inspire some of you to document your everyday lives. This is my fourth year doing Project Life and yes, I still adore this project. I look forward to Monday mornings every week because that's when I work on Project Life. It is so great to look back and reflect on a previous week. I have also found it has made me so much more appreciative of all of the little things in life. What's not to love about a project that does all of these things for you?

I used the Studio Calico April Bluegrass Farms Project Life Kit and paper pad for this layout.
also used digital elements from Studio Calico, gold and red sequins, blue chipboard stars from
the Studio Calico essentials collection, labels, and other bits and pieces from my stash.

I love using larger photos from time to time. This photo is sized 6x8 inches and spans
across three pockets in the Design A Becky Higgins page protector.

Saturday tab is a digital element by S.C. , Yay flair came in the Studio Calico Bluegrass Farms Scrapbook Kit, and "go get 'em Izzy" was handwritten on photo using a black Sharpie.

Gold chipboard star from Studio Calico Essentials collection, wood veneer star Studio
Calico, and gold foil cards from an exclusive Studio Calico 4x6 fancy paper pad.

Thank you for stopping by life, scrapbook, repeat today. I appreciate you being here.

Anyone else still loving Project Life? I would love to hear about it. What about those of you that are new to Project Life, or having trouble with it? Is there anything I can help you with? Let's see if we can get some Project Life discussion going on in the comments today.

If you are newer to Project Life or are curious about my process, I have a lot of posts related to Project Life. You can find all of My Project Life posts HERE. I also have a Project Life post that specifically discusses my step-by-step process with lots of photos. You can find that post HERE.

Have a great Tuesday and until next time,

Project Life 2014: Week 14

Happy Tuesday! It's that time of the week again where I show you my Project Life pages and we dish about all things pocket scrapbooking. This is my fourth year working on Project Life and I am still in love with this project! My kids look forward to seeing our new pages every week, and I love their enthusiasm for scrapbooking.  I am so thankful that we have a place to put cherished everyday memories, memorabilia, and stories of our life right now.

If you want to know more about Project Life, please go to the Becky Higgins website. On the main page you will find a short video which explaining this amazing concept by Becky Higgins.

Now let's look at some Project Life pages, shall we? You can click on any of these photos to see a larger image. :-)

Still loving including digital brushes, regular stamps, some computer journaling for longer
stories, stickers, and small embellishments. Is anyone else sad that
How I Met Your Mother has ended?

I used a small digital template for a bunch of floral 4x6 photos. Two of these photos are also
shown in this layout in a larger format, but I don't mind. I like having the mix actually.

I love title cards like this. Two different patterned papers layered on top, a circular label,
some cork letters and numbers, and my date stamp.

Anyone else have any Project Life pages to share today? How about any tips or products you are especially loving these days? Let's talk pocket scrapbooking today in the comments section below. I would love to hear from you.

If you are newer to Project Life or are curious about my process, I have a lot of posts related to Project Life. You can find all of My Project Life posts HERE. I also have a Project Life post that specifically discusses my step-by-step process with lots of photos. You can find that post HERE.

I am linking up these pages over at The Mom Creative. Jessica has switched from having a weekly Project Life share, to a monthly format. If you want to see all kinds of Project Life inspiration, you can find the April linkup HERE.

Have a great Tuesday and until next time,

Layout Share: Diving Into Summer and Other Summer Inspiration

Happy Monday blog readers! I hope y'all had a great and relaxing weekend. Today I have a layout to share with you from last summer. I never shared this particular layout on the blog, but it is one of my favorites. I don't know about you, but I sure love the sun and being outside. My family and I spent a lot of this past weekend working in the yard, playing outside, and going to softball games and practices. It was a really great weekend, and now I am just anxiously waiting for our community pool to open. Bring on the beach towels, sunscreen, and big hats!

Diving into Summer
My daughter Isabelle loves the pool and was perfecting her dive last summer. I also included some journaling in the vellum bag at the top of the layout.

I also am posting two other pool-themed layouts from last spring. If you click on the layout title you can go to the original posting of the layout for more detailed pictures. :-)

Scrapbooking Spaces: Edition #1

Today is the first time I am writing this column for the blog. I envision this being a place to showcase scrapbook spaces in which inspirational women create. The first space I have to share with you is my good friend Danielle Higginbottom-Brown's awesome scrapbook room. She is on the Design Team at Paper Bakery with me and also writes a great blog called Piperloo. You can check out her blog HERE for more awesome and crafty eye candy.

I think what I love most about her space is that it is truly her and is full of her favorite things. I love it when you see someone's craft space online and you just get a feel for them, if you know what I mean? Danielle's space is just that; vintage, fun, colorful, and with sentimental moments.

These next three layouts will really give you an idea of the different mediums Danielle uses to create. They also reflect her scrapbook room and design style.

Here is Danielle's amazing and inspirational Scrapbook Space:

This is Danielle's main desk where she creates her masterpieces.
I love that her Silhouette, most used tools, computer, craft mat,
and mixed media staples are all close at hand.

Cute buttons are also stored on her desk. She adores the new
buttons by Studio Calico that have a vintage flair.

Danielle stores most of her Mixed Media goodness in a suitcase
she used as a little girl, seriously how cute is that? She is
really great about using these goodies on her pages
and experimenting with new techniques.

This desk is to the right of her computer desk, and butted up to
her other desk in an L-shape. Danielle uses this desk to put
together her Project Life pages and also for sewing.

Isn't this color grouped shelf just amazing? It makes me smile
every single time I look at it.

If we continue around the room towards the right (or in a
clockwise fashion) you will find her album storage, white
shelves which house Paper Bakery Design Team Kits,
and patterned paper. She's uses a vintage wood box
to store extra embellishments and an adorable
vintage Coca Cola sign is propped up behind
for decoration. She has another shelf for
mists, a wicker basket for storing supplies
that her two boys can use. The boat
bookshelf was made by her father many year's
ago and houses more mixed media goodness and other fun.

To the right of her boat shelf you will find a built-in cabinet. She
uses these drawers to store extra scrapbooking supplies,
adhesive, and one drawer just for ink. How cool is that?

Danielle stores her collection kits in a vintage locket basket.
She is a huge fan of October Afternoon and you will find
lots of their goodies in this area.

I don't know about you, but after looking at all of those pictures I sure feel like creating something and breaking out some fun embellishments. I also really want to go antiquing and find some cute vintage finds for storage. What did you like most about this space? Is there anything that you were surprised to see. Being a sentimental girl, I love that she incorporated her childhood suitcase in her storage. I love that she uses many eclectic storage pieces and she has a great eye for finding them. Thank you Danielle for letting me feature you today at life, scrapbook, repeat, I appreciate you sharing your gorgeous layouts and space with us today. Please feel free to leave Danielle some love here and tell her how great her amazing space is.

If you would like to be featured on a future issue of Scrapbooking Spaces, please send me an e-mail to lifescrapbookrepeat (dot) blogspot (dot) com with 6-10 images of your space and a paragraph describing your style, some of the pieces in your space, and what you like to create. I would like 3 images of scrapbook pages, cards, or other paper craft items that you think reflect your style. Please make sure the images are of good quality and with decent lighting. I can't wait to see some more amazing spaces! I will be featuring two spaces a month on the blog (alternating with Crafty Organization Thursdays.) I need a new space for two weeks from today, so please send in your pictures.

Thank you for being here today. I will be back next week with more crafty goodness to share. If you don't already follow my blog, please do so, I am posting every Monday-Thursday by 8am EST with new crafty content and my schedule is as follows:

  • Monday: Scrapbook Layout
  • Tuesday: Project Life
  • Wednesday: Crafty project (cards, pocket pages, scrapbooking, home decor...this will vary.)
  • Thursday: Crafty Organization Thursdays, or Scrapbooking Spaces (alternating)
  • *One monthly giveaway for blog followers
  • *I also will have extra posts popping in from time to time so please be sure to follow me.
Have a great rest of the week and weekend and until next time,

Happy Scrappin'

Paper Bakery Projects for March 2014

Happy Wednesday! I have three layouts to share with you today using Paper Bakery's March Daylight Savings Scrapbook and Project 365 Kits. In these kits you will find lots of goodness from Studio Calico, Dear Lizzy, Amy Tangerine, American Crafts Thickers, and exclusive wood veneer, stencils, badges, and journaling cards, and many other goodies. There are still kits available, just follow the links above if you are interested. :-)

Happy Note

I adore penguins, and I was so glad to finally have these pictures from a
zoo trip in our family scrapbook. I think the machine stitching and
layered embellishments really add a little something to this layout.

He Has Her Whole Heart

I really had fun putting this layout together and looking over photos of these two from this
past year. Our daughter is such a daddy's girl so it wasn't hard to find photos of the two
of them together. I used a loose grid design to this layout, with a little bit of watercolor
(the green lines and hand cut heart, and also some messy ink splatters too.)

Elliot's Favorite Toys:

For this layout, I took a few photos of some of the toys our son still enjoys
and then incorporated his favorite colors into this layout. I added some
star stamps and letter stickers from my stash, and used a star punch
as well. I like how this really reflects Elliot at this age.

Thanks for stopping by today, I appreciate you being here. I will be back again tomorrow with some fun and inspiring scrapbook room photos to share, so please make sure to pop in and say hello.

Until next time,

Happy Scrappin'

Project Life 2014: Weeks 12 and 13

Happy Tuesday! It's that time of the week again where I show you my Project Life pages and we dish about all things pocket scrapbooking. This is my fourth year working on Project Life and I am still in love with this project! I wish this amazing concept had been around when my children were first born. I mean seriously, is there anything more amazing than a baby's first year Project Life album? If you want to know more about Project Life, please go to the Becky Higgins website. On the main page you will find a short video which explaining this amazing concept by Becky Higgins.

I have weeks 12 and 13 to share with you today. I did not take very pictures these weeks, so I just put the weeks together. I like how it turned out and I hope you do to. If you have any questions about Project Life, my pages, or anything else craft-related please do not hesitate to leave a comment below.

For this title card I watercolored on the March die-cut, and included some; machine
stitching, letter stickers, and a date stamp, and put it all on this amazing 4x6 paper from
Basic Grey/ Fresh Cut collection. Well done Basic Grey, well done!

I love including these types of things in Project Life. Left: A screen shot of my Fitbit tracker
screen taken with my I-Phone. Right: A journaling card with a few small elements
added; a label, chipboard heart, date stamping, and a staple.

More machine stitching and fun finishing touches; a label, cork star, staple, letter
stickers, and an enamel dot.

I also really love hand-stiched elements and try to include them whenever I can (and time
permits.) I added some yellow embroidery thread around this sun card by back
stitching. It took approximately 5 minutes to finish and I really love the
texture it adds to the overall layout.

Let's talk pocket page scrapbooking today or Project Life...are you including stitched elements in your pages? Any questions for me? Do you find that you have some go to embellishments you love to use? Anyone else still in love with enamel dots and using their tiny attacher?

I am linking up these pages over at The Mom Creative. Jessica has switched from having a weekly Project Life share, to a monthly format. If you want to see all kinds of Project Life inspiration, you can find the March linkup HERE.

Have a great Tuesday and until next time,

Layout Share: Go Outside

Happy Monday! I have a layout to share with you today featuring a photo of my sweet Isabelle that I just adore. It was taken last July and it is just "so her" if you know what I mean. Isabelle is full of spunk, high energy and enthusiasm for life. She is such an outdoor girl and is happiest with dirt on her clothes and playing in the sun.

For this layout I incorporated a few different stitching elements. I did a basic backstitch on the wood veneer camera card, I machine stitched the label down using a running stitch, and I did a small cross-stitch line of x's as well. I enjoy stitching on my projects because I love the added texture and it gives the layout more of a homemade feel, which I adore.

I appreciate you stopping by today at life, scrapbook, repeat. I enjoy sharing my small slice of blogland with each and every one of you. I have quite a few blog posts prepped for the remainder of the month, and you can expect to find new content here every Monday-Thursday morning at (or before) 8am EST. I hope to inspire you each of these days to enjoy life, scrapbooking, (or other crafty projects,) and to repeat this often. I would love to see you back here.

My schedule is as follows:

  • Monday: Scrapbook Layout
  • Tuesday: Project Life
  • Wednesday: Crafty project (cards, pocket pages, scrapbooking, home decor...this will vary.)
  • Thursday: Scrapbook Organization, or starting soon Scrapbooking Spaces
  • *One monthly giveaway for blog followers
  • *I also will have extra posts popping in from time to time so please be sure to follow me.  :-)

Let's talk finishing touches today. What are some of your favorite finishing touches to add to a layout or paper project? Do you incorporate hand stitching or machine stitching onto your layouts or cards? What about project life or other crafty endeavors? Anyone else feel more comfortable sewing on paper than fabric? I think for me, paper is easier because it is such s smaller scale. I do quite well with straight stitches on small pieces of fabric, but boy did I have fun figuring out how to sew 108" x 54" curtain panels. If you have never tried it, let me tell you, that is a lot of fabric to deal with. It is fairly simple, just awkward at times with so much fabric getting in the way.

Until next time...

Layout Share: Longshoreman

Today's layout is featuring a split-complimentary color scheme.

According to Tigercolor.com a split-complementary color scheme is a variation of a complimentary color scheme. In addition to using a base color, it also uses the two colors adjacent to it is a compliment. It has a lot of tension much like a complimentary color scheme, but is much easier to achieve.

In the layout I am working with today I wanted to go with a blue/ orange color scheme of sorts. This is a color combination I always love for masculine pages, or outdoor photographs. I went with blue as my dominant color with yellow and orange as the split-compliments and I really like how it turned out. I also used a brown woodgrain and white as a neutral to balance out all of that color, as well as silver for accents.

Thanks for stopping by life, scrapbook, repeat today. The kids are on spring break this week, so I only had three posts for you. I will be back next week with regular posting. I sure hope to see you back then.
