Card Share: Ombre Stamping

Today I have two cards to share with you, inspired by the Studio Calico Inked class. As a scrapper that is obsessed with color, it should come to no surprise to you to hear that I wanted to try an ombre technique. I highly recommend trying either of these techniques, super super fun!!!

For the first card I implemented a very simple ombre technique using three different ink colors for the background stamping (going from lightest to darkest.)

*I used Hero Arts Shadow Inks for this card in Sweet Tomato,
Soft Cantaloupe, and Butter Bar.
*Stamps by Studio Calico
*Black Ink-Versafine in Onyx Black

For the second card I used a true ombre technique and was able to achieve three unique colors by only using two different stamp pads. I started with a lighter colored ink for my first stamping, then I retouched the stamp with a darker color ink for my second stamping (without wiping off the remaining first color,) and finally for the third step, I added the darker color by itself. This truly gave me  a great ombre finish. Just remember to not clean off your stamp between the first and second application.

*I used Hero Arts Shadow Inks again in Soft Green and Soft Pool for this card
*Stamps by Studio Calico

Let's talk card making today...What have you been creating lately? Anyone else enjoying any card classes or online card videos? Do you have any card or stamping techniques you would like to share? I am really enjoying the Studio Calico inked class and I highly recommend Simon Says Stamp videos on You Tube. I hope y'all are having a fabulous summer.

Project Life 2013: Week 21, May 20th-May 26th

As I sit here typing up this post, I fully admit to being a little behind on Project Life sharing with all of you. I am imperfect and I have been travelling, but I hope to catch up on that in the next few weeks however. I just finished week 26, but for today I have week 21 photographed, edited, and ready to share. I really enjoyed how this week came together and loved working with the color scheme of red, light blue, jade, black, and yellow. I pulled a couple of cards from the Jade Project Life kit and also used the awesome Studio Calico Planetarium Project Life Kit. I had some fun stamping this month as well with the exclusive Amy Tangerine stamp set included in the SC Project Life Kit.

Supplies Used:
  • Project Life Jade Core Kit
  • Studio Calico Planetarium Project Life Kit
  • Stamping Ink: Hero Arts Pale Tomato and Jade, Versafine ink in Onyx Black
  • Journaling pens-American Crafts precision pen .03 tip
  • Labels/ Cut aparts-Studio Calico printables, Bananafish Studios, Chic Tags, and October Afternoon
  • Digital Elements: Ali Edwards good times and life with you is awesome, cloud-Studio Calico

I will be back later this week with a layout and card share, and also a story about a boy band reunion. Yup, it's happening. Good times tomorrow night.

How are you coming along with Project Life. Are you stamping or combining digital stamps or brushes to your pages?  Do you have any cool trips or tricks that you are just loving? Let's talk Project Life....I would love to see anything and everything you are creating, just add a link to your comment.

Layout Share: "You Rock, Your A Rock Climber"

Today, I have a layout to share with you that I made last week. I purchased my first set of gelatos and was very excited to use some bright colors behind these photos of my daughter. I am really liking the Faber-Castell Gelatos, but I still have a lot to learn. In the meantime, it has been super fun experimenting and coloring my papers.

 Products Used:

Let's talk mixed media...Anyone else diving into water colors, gelato, paint, and other mixed media types of things? What are some of your favorites? How do you like to use them? I am really enjoying using them as a bottom layer. beneath my photos.

Until next time, Happy Scrappin'

Layout Share: "Be Happy Everyday"

How I have missed this blog. I really have. I just love it, I enjoy writing and sharing my scrappy projects with all of y'all. I am still happily staying at my paren'ts home in Washington State and having a great time. I wake up in the morning and have my coffee and just want to write and share, thankful I now can. After a week-and-a-half-long off-and-on-again (mostly on) fight with my parents PC and their internet connection, I have now finally, FINALLY got it up and running. I was gettting to the point or wanting to take a baseball bat to the computer. Just picture a PC that is bogged down with a bunch of unneeded stuff, multiply that times 1000, and picture THIS video clip from one of my favorite movies "Office Space," and you might have a faint understanding of my frustration. **I added the you tube link to the censored version, but there might still be one or two stray "choice words." ** This computer almost took a trip with me to a nearby field, and yes I will admit that this clip from Office Space might have played out in my head quite a few times. After reinstalling everything onto the computer like it was brand new again and fixing my parents internet, and very carefully only installing the necessary components, we are now up and running. If you have never tried to photo and blog from an I-phone, I tell you it is an interesting experience.

Moving on, are any of you obsessed with watching scrapbook videos on You Tube? I am. I just love this hobby, and find that even after scrapbooking the day away, I love to unwind to a new scrapbook video. A few days ago I stumbled upon this gem on Lilith Eeckels you tube channel. So inspirational. She is such a phenomenal scrapbooker, I am continually inspired by her pops of color, awesome layering, and gorgeous photos (often of some, or all of her four adorable boys.)  I loved her layout design and absolutely adore the color combination of peachy pink, seafoam, and yellow. I am seriosly in love with these colors...throw some navy in there for an occassional variation and I could be happy for the rest of my life. The very next day I pulled some fun scrappy products and got to work and this is what I came up with. *I was definitely inspired by Lilith's color combination and also of her idea of having photos or jouraling cards in a horizontal strip in the center of the scrapbook page. Thank you Lilith so much for inspiring me!

I am really liking the long strip of paper and photos horizontally down the center of a 12 x 12 scrapbook page. I have a haunting feeling that you just might see it pop up quite a bit in the near future.

Supplies Used:
  • Paper: American Crafts white cardstock, Studio Calcio So Cal kit from June 2012
  • Pen and Ink: American Crafts precion pen .03 tip in black and Versafine ink in Onyx Black

  • Stamps: Studio Calico
  • Other: Tim Holtz tiny attacher, foam dots by 3m, glue dots, and adhesive.
Let's talk inspiration...what inspires you to scrapbook? Do you have any favorite You Tube channels? Who are some of your favorite scrapbookers? Anyone else admit to being obsessed with watching scrapbook videos on You Tube? Any other Two Peas in a Bucket video fans?

I have sure missed you guys and would love to hear from y'all.
