2 for the Work of 1: A Blog Hop

Good morning everyone,

I am back again today with another blog hop featuring some old and familiar faces, (and by old I mean been on the blog before, not actually old ;-) For today's blog hop we are taking on another of Glitter Girl's Challenges over on Two Peas in a Bucket. This challenge is aptly named "2 For The Work of 1." As you might have guessed, we are creating two layouts today, all with the use of one set of supplies that we pre-chose. You can find the "2 For The Work of 1" video and information here.

For my layout, I chose to select paper and embellishments all from October Afternoon. A great manufacturer, of scrapbooking products, and also I have a lot of their older supplies that I just really want/ need to use. I decided to give myself an additional challenge to only  use their products and to combine elements from as many different collections as possible. I managed to use products from seven, yup seven different lines, including; Sidewalks, Farm Girl, 9 to 5, Thrift Shop, 5 and Dime, Woodland Park, and Farmhouse. I love that all of these collections had a different feel and theme, but they still all coordinated beautifully together.

The photos I started with, background papers, and letter/ chipboard stickers:

Here are the embellishments I pre-chose (many I ended up not using):

October Afternoon assorted papers:

Tools-Lots of Martha Stewart circle punches, adhesive, scissors, and pop dots:

And here are the two layouts I created: Layout 31 "Soft Nice Seep"

And a close-up of the pop-dotted circles, embellishments, and hand stitching

Layout #2: "First Steps"

And another close-up:

My thoughts on the challenge:

It was fun to pick out all of my products ahead of time, I generally do this at least somewhat for most layouts. I really enjoyed working on two layouts back-to-back with the same products. Definitely something I will do again. It saved a lot of time and only one large mess to clean-up at the end. I seriously destroy my craft table after every layout, so after two, it was especially messy.

Now onto my fellow hoppers, first up is Claire from Adventures in Singapore.

These are the background papers that Claire chose:

These are the layouts:

I love the range of patterned papers that Claire used on her layouts. She is a wiz at mixing various patterned papers. I love that the graphic photo in the first layout also has a graphic blue floral design underneath the photo. The second layout I just adore, I mean who isn't a sucker for new baby cuteness? I love how she clustered embellishments, and used a variety of colors and patterns for this cute little girl page. Thank you so much for joining us this week Claire.

Next up is Senorita Scrapper from the blog senoritaml.wordpress.com

Here are her layouts:

I love the colors she chose for her layouts. Her little boy is so stinkin' adorable and they just read like a sweet little boy layout. She used products from Studio Calico's Hook add-on and some elements from her stash. I just love what she came up with and I am really loving all of the great buttons in the second layout. I also really like how she used a photo frame in the first layout. That frame helps emphasize the adorable photo and the little arrow is just perfection.

And our last hopper today  is Lea Lacoste from  afreezeframe.blogspot.fr. These are the supplies she started with. I spy Amy Tangerine, My Mind's Eye, some Dear Lizzy, washi tape, a date stamper, and lots more fun goodies. LOL and we both chose the light blue October Afternoon labels. Love it when that happens.

Here are Lea's two layouts:

This photo of Ottawa is gorgeous. I love the mix of letter stickers, the groupings of embellishments, and that photo=LOVE. I usually picture Ottawa covered in snow, so it is nice to see it sunny and warm. Now this layout has an entirely different feel. There are two smaller photos and the colors are much more muted. I think it further reinforces the wintery theme in her photos. Lea, I am seriously in love with your mad photography skills. You can take pictures of North Carolina for me any day.

Thank you so much Senoritascrapper and Lea for joining me today. I hope y'all enjoyed our blog hop. We will be back next week with another hop and a different challenge. This is also open to any of you readers that might be interested. Just leave a comment below or e-mail me at lifescrapbookrepeat@gmail.com and let me know and I will get your details and get you set up to hop along with us. The more the merrier.

Have a great Wednesday and as aways Happy Scrappin'

  1. Beautiful layouts! I've never tried choosing materials ahead of time and making two layouts from them. It sounds both freeing and limiting at the same time! It obviously worked really well for all of you. :)
