Project Life 2013: Week 35, August 26th-September 1st

I am back today with a new week of Project Life to share. I mentioned being a little behind last week... I decided to get real today and see just how behind I am with Project Life this year. I have 11 weeks to catch-up on and finish, but I am trying not to stress about it too much. I look at it as wow I have a little over 2/3 of the year done and pictures and memorabilia for the rest of it. This past week I managed to get three weeks completed, ( yay me) so I feel that this is manageable and totally do-able. I think the key for me will be to do the current Project Life week every week as well as two older weeks. If I can keep this up, I should be completely up to date in Mid-October. I definitely want to get this all caught up before the holiday craziness comes up on us.  Anyone else in the same boat with me when it comes to Project Life? Behind or not, I am still loving Project Life...this is my third year in and it is safe to say that there is no turning back for me.

I hope to see you back here on Friday with my completed 30 Lists. I jumped aboard this project on September 1st, and am really enjoying it thus far. Are there any other fellow listers out there? Rounding out the week, I will be back on Saturday, sharing two more catch-up weeks of Project Life.

Scrappy Share with American Crafts

Today is the first day of summer, and what better way to celebrate then to stay in and scrapbook the day away, LOL. I spent the majority of yesterday outside swimming, and soaking up the sun, so today I took the day off and am crafting away.  We are getting ready to head back to Washington State for four weeks to see family and friends and I am trying to wrap up a few crafty projects before we leave. We will be staying with my parents, and since my mom is a fellow crafter, I am bringing scrapbook stuff as well.

I have a layout and card to share using American Crafts products. I used elements from the Mayberry and My Girl collection for the layout, and Ready Set Go for the card. I hope you like them.

Let's talk packing crafting supplies. Does anyone have any pointers for me? I am allowing myself one small carry-on for all of my scrapbooking, crafty items. Obviously the trimmer and scissors and other sharp tools will have to go in the larger suitcase under the plane, (don't want TSA to confiscate them.) Can you think of any other items that should also be checked? I really, REALLY do not want to argue with TSA about them keeping my scrapbooking tools, trust me, that would not be pretty. LOL. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Have a fabulous day!

Eric From: Turtle Rescuer

So I am back today with another blog post. This one, however, is not scrapbook-related, at least not yet. Yesterday, our children celebrated their last day of school (7th grade for Elliot and 3rd grade for Isabelle.) Around the time the kids were celebrating in their classrooms, my husband stumbled upon something quite interesting. He was driving on a highway and almost ran over a small turtle. He quickly turned to avoid hitting said turtle, and then walked back on foot to retrieve the little amphibian before she became road kill. He brought her home and held her out to me, saying, "I have a surprise for you." I asked, "Did you find a lizard?" We have found a few in our neighborhood and I really like them. He said, "No, but kind of similar and bigger." I immediately said, "Please tell me that isn't a snake behind your back?" In North Carolina, there are many poisonous snakes so I was slightly freaked out. He then pulled his hand out from behind his back and showed me this little cutie.

Once I got done screaming, I mean, I thought it was a snake after all, I smiled and thought she was the cutest thing ever. We debated what to do with her. Should we return her to the wild knowing that this area is known for turtles getting killed on the highway? Should we bring her to another habitat and pray that she does well there? Or should we keep her and take really good care of her. . . needless to say....we now have a pet turtle named Tia Tuck Turtle. My husband, kids, and I are smitten and the dogs love watching her in her turtle tank. After some research, I have found out that she is a Eastern Painted Turtle and is about 80-90% full grown. These kinds of turtles spend most of their time swimming in water, but come to shore to bask in the sunlight throughout the day. She is now happily ensconced in a large turtle tank full of water and a floating dock for her to sunbathe on with lots of awesome light.

Eric From: Turtle Rescuer indeed. Hard to say no to man that rescues turtles in his spare time. Love you babe. You are such a sweetie, but no I leave turtle tank cleaning to you as promised.

See y'all tomorrow and Happy Scrappin'
